3rd Scrutiny Meeting & Residents Presentations
Tuesday 28 June 7:00pm Civic Offices
The third meeting of the scrutiny committee listen to residents presentation on Kidsgrove, Talke and Chesterton Sites - Pennyfields Road, Thomas Street and Shewbury Drive.
They will then question the council officers on Asset Management policy and Financial Strategy.

Shadow Environment Secretary adds her name to campaign
Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment visits Clayton Road Field
Mary Creagh added her name to the Save Our Green Spaces campaign as she visited one of the seven sites under threat, Clayton Road Field.
When interviewd by a Sentinel reporter the shadow minister said:
"This land should be protected for generations to come, it's our heritage and our environment."

"We Got It Wrong" Admit Councillors
In the discussions following the residents presentations on 15 June a number of councillors stated that they had made a mistake when resolving to sell off Council green spaces.
Councillor Eddie Boden councillor for Chesterton raised the question "Isn't it is time now to scrap the whole Newcastle Development Programme, stop the process and just admit we got it wrong? " "And I admit personally I got it wrong."
Councillor Sandra Hambleton from Bradwell seconded this proposal.
Summary Of Planning Policy Scrutiny Meeting
Report on last scrutiny meeting on 8th June
At the meeting on 8 June, Helen Beech Planning Policy Manager, confirmed there was no special urgency to bring Greenfield sites forward development. however the Council would struggle to meet its five-year supply targets in following years.
She also confirmed that Brownfield sites should be considered first under the planning policy and acknowledged developing Greenfield sites could set a precedent for further development of other green field sites inthe Borough.
